Journal 2 ----Twitter. "Join the Flock!" by Hadley Ferguson NETS-T (3)

Professional Learning Network known as PLN has many definitions, but for me the most descriptive definition is a community of individuals around the world who are learning together. Twitter is one of the networks used in PLN. The article describes how the networking system does take time to build. The article explains that three most important elements to include in your twitter account are a picture and a short bio. Another recommendation is to create two different accounts; one for the personal account and another one for your professional networking.

How can PLN help you in the professional area at a long run?

Professional Learning Network will enhance your list of contacts. These contacts can get you in contact with other people that can help you professionally. Twitter is a great place to network and learn about other people’s professional fields. What I learned from this article is that you need to follow people who you want to learn from, and people will follow you if they are also interested in what you know. Creating two accounts is the best because in one account you can manage your hobbies and you can manage your professional contacts in the other account. Twitter is a great agency that enables you to connect with people all over the world and which at a long run will help you professionally or personally whatever fits you better.

How can Twitter improve in its goal to incorporate in PLN?

Twitter has succeeded in being one of the main networks in PLN. With Twitter the account holders have succeeded in meeting people that can help them to know other people in the professional world. The way that Twitter could improve is that once you have your interest put in your Twitter account, the filtered information can get you contacts that might interest you. It would be easier for the option to be open rather than you look for all of them. People don’t get to know other people in PLN in the first day; it takes time to build profession al relationships. Another way that Twitter can improve is to be able to put more information than just 180 words in the bio because sometimes that is not enough space to write what you like and want in the professional field.
