Journal 10 “I Can See Me” Timothy J. Frey NETS-T 1 & 2 & 3
The “I Can See Me” principle is that children can actually see themselves and realize what they are doing right or wrong. The main idea of this principle is for students to reflect on their work and improve what they do in their mistakes. In “I Can See Me: Webcams in the Classroom,” suggests that by using webcams, students can watch themselves so that they can see what they do wrong. Then the video is taken to be reflected between the teacher and the student so that they teacher can point out issues that the student didn’t see. Then the student is sent to reflect and watch the same video again, but this time also considering the issues pointed out by the teacher. This method has proven to improve reading skills and posture skills as well. When high school students find themselves having to do a speech in front of people, they are intimidated because they don’t know how they look, that is why this is a great method again.
Does this method change high school student’s perspective of speech as a high school student?
Ultimately, the “I can see me” method does change High School Student’s perspective because they are less intimidated of getting in front of people and show what they have to present. The issue is that students find themselves freighted by the fact of talking in front of people, but with the webcam they have the opportunity to see themselves and see what the audience would see in a presentation. They also have the chance to improve what they don’t like about their speech skills. But most importantly children have the opportunity to do it individually or with only a teacher, then they can do the real thing, meaning in front of other students. Practice another very important thing to do in speeches. Frey reflects on that webcam usage in class does improve their student’s opinion and skills of speech.
What else is there to Webcam and “I can see me” principle?
In addition to the fact that has the chance to improve what they don’t like about their speech skills, they also have the opportunity to share and incorporate this video in different places. The purpose of sharing their video and the information is for other institutions to use the method and realize that it’s a great way to encourage their students to use the digital tools that are available to them. Communicating this great tool also enables other students and peers know a way for them to improve their speech skills and a way no to be freighted when it come to performing speech. If I can sum this article I should say that this principle can “ enhance our instruction and add a new effective technique for teachers. The ability to easily capture, store, and share digital video will lead to many exciting educational opportunities for our students and teachers.”

Journal 9 ---Teach Your Students to Share Using iCyte NETS-T 1-3
Huston, D. (2010, November). In Teach Your Students to Share Using iCyte. Retrieved November 30, 2010
Huston, reflects one the way teachers have their students research. He states that teachers give out topics and lets them loose without telling them the main point of research. He implies that research should not just stay in paper. He believes that research found should be shared through network such as iCyte by creating a bigger social bookmarking. He explains that there are other networks such as Delicious, or Diigo, but iCyte is better because students and teachers unite in a type club for a same interest. When there is a same interest search become easier for anybody. Bookmarking research helps other students in their research.

In terms of research, what bookmarking engine is better for students?
According to Huston, iCyte is the best bookmarking engine because it is the only one that saves different categories of research for different fields. Huston says that other bookmarking engines don’t have different categories to make the search easier. I thought that Delicious was great already the way it was, but now that I know that iCyte is better, is great. I didn’t know it could get better. Teachers should begin using this search engine and teach their students to use it as well. I think that in order to expect good research h from students, tools have to be delivered to them in order to make it easier for them. This way they can actually enjoy the assignment.
What is the best way to make research easier for our students?
The best way to give an assignment is to teach students the best way to teach them the best way to search for the information that we as teachers are looking for. If we have big expectations we should supply them with search engines such as iCyte. Currently iCyte is not very commonly used, but with in time it will be used because it is a great search engine, great for social networking with same interest students, and a great way for students to collaborate with other students and even teachers. iCyte is a great way to teach students how to collaborate and even to save their research so that other students see the research.

Journal 8 --Save the World with Web 2.0 NETS-T 3 & 4
Lauren Cifuentes explains how Web 2.0 can save the world. With this term she means that the current young and children can learn the importance of becoming ethical people and with professionalism they can save the future world. Cifuentes believes that teachers and students can mutually learn to be people with strong ethics, concern with poverty, collaborating in causes to help other countries, and understanding the importance of balance in the government. After all of the information is conveyed both ways, the most important is to know how to collaborate and share the information through the web like in facebook, twitter, and delicious. Communication tools are imperative and take a huge role in Web 2.0, because that us the best and fastest way to get to more students than just a classroom. The student’s responsibility is to go to other students and communicate the importance of ethics.
How does language enter in the plan of saving the world?
Language takes a role in the plan of saving the world because in Web 2.0 there are sites that support the importance of learning more than one language. Language is a big issue now a day and it has been since diversity existed. Tolerance is a huge problem in this world, and if teachers are able to teach students the importance of diversity and accepting other language, we can have a world without wars and hate. On the other hand, if the teachers themselves don’t believe in the importance of diversity then there is no way for them to teach the importance of diversity. This job of saving the world with Web 2.0 is not simple, we need to start from the roots meaning that we need to teach teachers and then teachers need to teach students and the students can communicate to their friends.
How is involving students going to change their perspective of life?
Involving children in projects such as aiding people on poverty will let them know the need that many people are into and that way they will want to do something when they grow up. Additionally, as part of Web 2.0’s plan, students need to be taught the important of balance in the government and the distribution of money in the world. With projects like this, children will understand that the distribution of power is imperative and when vote time comes they will make the right election. Also, if many students are taught about the importance of ethics, when they stand in the white house with a high position, they will make the right decision thinking of other people.

Inspiration NETS-T 4
The Inspiration 9. satisfied NETS-T 3 and five because I put all the NETS-T three together and reflected what we all as a class have done. Additionally, NETS-T five underlines the importance to exhibit leadership and demonstrate a vision of technology, and build the technology skills of others. All the examples can be visually seen in this post.
Journal 7: My Personal Learning Network NETS -T 5
In journal 7 we had the opportunity of meeting educators through Twitter. I met with educators from Connecticut and New Jersey and many more people. I also added educators to my delicious account. Then I wrote a reflection of who I added and why I added them. I described the great experience I had in the chat meeting as well. It was very interesting.
My personal learning network is combined with a twitter, delicious, and Educator’s account. These accounts convey an informative world of educators who share their knowledge. When educator share their knowledge it is easier for teachers to teach, and for students to learn and collaborate with other students as well. As a teacher my PLN will help me to know different ways to help my students study and learn in a classroom environment. Through the network I will be able to learn from teachers, students, and my community.
In my Twitter account, I added other people to my network in order to learn from them. The people who I added were people who are dedicated to the world of education. The sections that I searched were education and landed on elemchat. The topic that was discussed was what are your favorite tech tools for the classroom. Topic: What are your favorite tech tools for the classroom. Some of the tools mentioned were the DreamBox , dashboard, but internet access is needed. A mom mentioned that her daughter plays at home 15 minutes a day, and at school twice a week in the lab. Other tools mentioned were, Skype and Mixbooks, www.sitepal.com for voice, and voki. Through the Twitter chat I also realized how popular it is to teachi with Macs I also learned that Diigo.com is similar to delicious.com
For my Delicious account one of the people who I elected was Jedipooh. Jedipoo, in addition to be very involved with his delicious account he is into computers which is great for me! I need to stay in the technology side! Things are moving fast and I need to keep up. He will be a good search engine for me regards technology. The other people who I chose were also very involved in tagging in the education such as new ways to teach students to listen and much more.
In the Educator’s website I found a great contributor named John Burrell. John seems like a very dedicated educator who keeps up with the education updates as far as teaching. On October 31, John posted a blog called Flip-Thinking. The title seemed very interesting to me and what I found out from the post was even more interesting. The direct url to his blog is http://edupln.com/profile/JohnBurrell. I recommend other students and educators to read his postings because as I mentioned he is a dedicated person to his career. The way that John explained how the Flip-Thinking works in his classroom. Teaching our kids first in class and reiterating the information with homework or an activity to take home is a great way to keep the students warm on the subject. The best way to make sure that your students learned the information is by asking them a few questions after the homework is done.

Journal 6 Interview-Change Agent, NETS-T 2& 5
Will Richardson is an example to follow. Will, as an educator is googleable, but he would like more teachers and professors to become as well. Richardson’s mentality of a world involved in technology is currently on it’s highest I believe, but there is much more to be done. I agree with him in that “there's no one teaching them about the nuances involved in creating a positive online footprint.” Students now a day are so involved in myspace and other networks that are not really helping themselves in their education. Students need to get involved by their teachers, and supported by their parents to try to novice activities in their computer.
Why do we blog?
Richardson is a critical thinker. Like he says, educators and other blog users should ask ourselves why we use a blog. The question correlates on the fact that we use it, but many of us don’t know why we use it. The purpose of a blog is to collaborate and communicate with other bloggers around the world. For example, in blogspot.com, the one I use is great because I get to collaborate and share information with other students in my class. In my education class we get to do activities in the web and then we get to reflect on them on our blog. As one of our assignments, we also have to comment on our classmates which is a great way to help our classmates acknowledge their great work. Richardson also brings an important point to his interview which is that we have wasted enough time trying to learn how to improve our computer skills and it’s time to finally think why is the reason we are trying to learn this ‘stuff.’ The key points are collaboration and communication!
What is going to take for Educational Institutions really get up and start engaging in their student’s education?
In order for students to engage in their own education, educators need to engage first in their profession. I believe that is one of the issues missing from educators. I believe the best way to engage students in their education are by introducing them to novice activities in where their educational interest will awaken. Engaging students in their education reminds me of NETS –T five because if we teach our students the importance of learning technology. But also passing it on to others and the most important is remembering it for the rest of your life because it will help you in professional jobs. Richardson seems like a teacher who engages really well with his students which will help his students have a better technology life!

Journal 5 “Learning Beyond Walls: 28 Resources for Your Students to Connect Globally,” NETS-T 3
In the article called “Learning Beyond Walls: 28 Resources for Your Students to Connect Globally,” I learned that there are many things to do for our students are teachers, parents, and members of communities. The use of technology is being discussed, but what is important about technology is that we have to make use of it. This article explains that global warming is one of the main issues talked about, but children are not aware of the magnitude of the problem. This article says that collaboration is needed in order to inform children about Global Warming and how they can help this problem.
How will technology inform children?
Most of the time children will be in the computer in websites such as Myspace, Facebook, and in their emails. Collaboration through emails and the communication media would help to make children aware of the Global Warming problems. If children get the warning from their Myspace, Facebook, and email forwarding it will be wasier for them to understand how important it is to know what it going on in the planet that they live in.
Will children actually care?
I believe mature teenagers will care knowing about Global Warming. With the collaboration of teachers, parents, and the community children will understand the importance of this issue. Eventually the children will start informing other friends across the world and through their website postings.Children will understand that collaborating with other students and friends through the network will help ameliorate this terrible issue that we have with Global Warming.

Journal 4 Computing in the Clouds NETS-T 3
“Computing in the Clouds” explains what it means to be computing in the clouds. During these last weeks I have opened many new accounts and doing different technology activities, but after I read this article everything made sense. I learned what the big deal of computing in the clouds. The best about this is that you don’t have to waste time in transferring data, using your computer memory, and that it’s all free! “Computing in the Clouds” warns the reader that there are many changes in technology, but there is a lot more to come. Johnson gave the example of him having to buy a $100 graphic calculator for his son many years ago, and now we are to the point that teachers will require parents to buy their K-12 a netbook. Ultimately, this explains what computing in the clouds means. The best of this is that you can go to any computer and find your information from the clouds.
In the future, will the grade as little as 2nd grade have to bring netbooks to school?
Netbooks are great for younger children and adults. The difference between netbooks and laptops is that netbooks are more convenient for children because of the size and the weight. Netbooks are small computers that weigh much less than regular laptops, but the best of them is that they are as equipped as a regular laptop. I believe that in the future netbooks or other new computers will be required by the teachers. Technology is racing and it’s going really fast, so fast that it’s becoming harder to keep up with it.
How long will it take for all these free accounts in the clouds to charge?
I think that the accounts that are currently free will have a cost in the future. The reason that it’s currently free is because it’s given a chance for users to experience computing in the clouds. Once these accounts and websites become more popular they will have a cost. I don’t think any time soon, but they will because many people are beginning to make Google and Delicious many of their main websites. Google offers free email account, and even free word office supplies when people pay over $50 in retail stores. Bottom line, I do believe that in the future there will eventually a cost for these free services.

School 2.0 Reflection Tool NETS-T 2
According to NETS-T 2 says “Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments.” As a teacher my main point would be to be a “Model Digital-Age Work and Learning” I would like to model and facilitate activities for my students through technology providing the necessary tools for them. NETS-T 2 fulfills School 2.0 toos because of the way we all learn something from this website.
The name of the resource that I researched was Grow Your Personal Learning Network New Technologies Can Keep You Connected In the resource found I learned that there are many things we as teachers should do to improve the student’s necessities. The most interesting point that I learned in this resource is that in the process of providing students with the necessary tools, the teachers also learn and improve their way of teaching through technology. As discussed in the research provided currently there are new tools in technology that enables quick communication from students to teachers such as chat, e-mail, and twitter.
I chose this standard because now a day technology is the most important thing teachers should obtain for teaching. Keeping up with technology is hard, but it is necessary in order to provide students with all the help that they need. Technology changes at every moment and that is why we should keep up with it as teachers.
In School 2.0 we took a survey to know what kind of teachers we would be. This post reflects on what I learned and how I think this activity has improved my thinking as a teacher.

Journal 3---"Enhance Your Twitter Experience," by Shannon McClintock Miller. NETS-T (2)
Twitter doesn’t just stop in where you build your contact list, there is a lot more. A very important fact about Twitter is knowing how to manage it. Learning how to manage Twitter can make your life much easier! Enhancing it like the title of this journal says is the best way to make your Twitter experience the best. When your account become crazy and overcrowded is when you don’t have any organization and many tweets. That is why columns exist. Columns help the account holder manage their twits with its followers and the people who you follow.
From the percentages described in the article which one are you least content with?
I believe that everybody has the right to manage their Twitter account however they want to. I believe that I can tweet as much or as little as I want to, it’s a personal right. For that reason I don’t agree with the 10% stated that should be invested in personal our lives. I believe t hat our lives shouldn’t be run by percentages and statistics. I imagine I am not the only one that thinks this way. Twitter is another networking in where you make friends as well just like Facebook, so it doesn’t mean you can’t show that you have a personal life in Twitter.
What can you obtain in Twitter that you can’t in Facebook?
This questions connects to my last statement from the last paragraph. You can have a personal life, and you can manage your Twitter account they way you want to, but there are some advantages in Twitter that you can’t have in Facebook. Twitter offers a chain of contacts that can lead you and help you to gain experience talking to people in which you are interested in. Facebook doesn’t have that professional side, like Twitter does. It’s easier to manage your professional side of you in a Twitter account rather than in Facebook. In any way I am putting Facebook down. I love Facebook and I love my personal life. I can still have a personal life in both accounts, but in regards my professional life, Twitter does help me manage that part better than any other network.

Journal 2 ----Twitter. "Join the Flock!" by Hadley Ferguson NETS-T (3)
Professional Learning Network known as PLN has many definitions, but for me the most descriptive definition is a community of individuals around the world who are learning together. Twitter is one of the networks used in PLN. The article describes how the networking system does take time to build. The article explains that three most important elements to include in your twitter account are a picture and a short bio. Another recommendation is to create two different accounts; one for the personal account and another one for your professional networking.
How can PLN help you in the professional area at a long run?
Professional Learning Network will enhance your list of contacts. These contacts can get you in contact with other people that can help you professionally. Twitter is a great place to network and learn about other people’s professional fields. What I learned from this article is that you need to follow people who you want to learn from, and people will follow you if they are also interested in what you know. Creating two accounts is the best because in one account you can manage your hobbies and you can manage your professional contacts in the other account. Twitter is a great agency that enables you to connect with people all over the world and which at a long run will help you professionally or personally whatever fits you better.
How can Twitter improve in its goal to incorporate in PLN?
Twitter has succeeded in being one of the main networks in PLN. With Twitter the account holders have succeeded in meeting people that can help them to know other people in the professional world. The way that Twitter could improve is that once you have your interest put in your Twitter account, the filtered information can get you contacts that might interest you. It would be easier for the option to be open rather than you look for all of them. People don’t get to know other people in PLN in the first day; it takes time to build profession al relationships. Another way that Twitter can improve is to be able to put more information than just 180 words in the bio because sometimes that is not enough space to write what you like and want in the professional field.

Journal 1Taking Laptops Schoolwide NETS-T (1)
Professional Learning Community has shown to be a great program for students, teachers, and the community as a whole. PLC benefits students in that they get extra help from their teachers, parents, and the teachers get feedback from their students. This feedback enabled teachers know what their students are struggling in and what area they need more help. The four factors illustrated in the article called, “Taking Laptops Schoolwide,” suggest that PLC cannot be done without collaboration and enthusiasm.
How can more schools explore and know about PLC?
Now a day, networking has become easier than ever, especially with Twitter. Professor Heil has taught us that the best way to educate others and communicating is by networking! Twitter is a great place to network with other educators. When a chain of knowledge interacts, there is a lot more to learn from it. Programs such as PLC pop up when educators interact and discuss their methods used in schools. Networking through internet with peers, teachers, and community members enables communication flow faster.
Who benefits the most from PLC?
The students are the ones who most benefit from PLC because with the contribution of the people who participate. Children have the opportunity to see their parents and teachers work together in order to improve their level of education. Having students work with PLC enables their parents and teachers teach the students the importance of getting to know people and also leaning how to ask for help. One of the greatest benefits is that children succeed in school the best way possible, with a lot of support!

Introducing Nancy Aguayo
Today I am Nancy Aguayo, but for 21 years I was Nancy Valtierra. I am happily married with my husband. Since I was four to my senior year I was in a little town called Borrego Springs. I grew up in this little town in where everybody knows everybody. You can’t keep any secrets from anybody! I love that town because it is so quiet and away from the city. I graduated and came to San Marcos after the rejection from UC Redlands. I believe in that “things happen for a reason.” I think I was rejected from UC Redlands because CSUSM was destined to be my school. I love CSUSM! I have attributes and I can say they are the following: not a genius, but yet hard working, generous, but yet don’t agree with young men and women using their children to beg for money, ambitious, yet highly motivated. I like to smile to life because you never know when the last day will be. My mom, husband, and family are my motive to be a better person.
Well….in regards computers, I hate them! Not literally, but lately I have been having a lot of trouble with my hp computer and it is only three years old. I have many viruses problems. I had not found a computer that was for me, until I met MAC’s! Last week when I was introduced to them I was astonished of how simple, but yet magnificent! Since I don’t have one, I always look forward to work with one once a week until I can get my own. On the other hand, I love cameras, but I just don’t like transferring them to my computer because that takes a lot of time from me. By far my favorite technology piece is my Sirius Radio because it’s awesome! I had an old one, but this new one has a mini sd card which I can put the music that I like. In addition to the sd card I can also save songs that I hear in the radio. I use this radio at work, at home, in my car, when I work out, basically everywhere!
The following quote is the part that most speaks to my conscience and personality “…diversity, educational equity, and social justice,…” I believe that one of main reasons why there is so much violence now a day, not just in individual homes, in the market, institutions, or even countries vs countries is because of the lack of diversity and tolerance. Diversity and equality should start in individual homes. It is ideal to start in schools so that later these children can take this out in schools and later to their jobs so that there can be more than just violence. The mission statement is straight forward in that they want to get the best from educators. So that later on, these educators can give the best of them to their students. Education has a big influence as a whole in an individual because at the long run throughout their lives, teachers and parents are the most important influence in every student’s life.
